Ferdinand Billimek, the youngest son of Andreas Billimek, was a very close friend of John Woellert, and was further bonded by the marriage of John's only son, Rudolph, to Ferdinand's daughter, Marie. In 1900, Ferdinand Billimek and his family, John and Theresia Woellert, and Rudolph and Marie Woellert left High Hill to begin another home in what is today called Poth, Texas, formerly known as Marcylina Switch, Wilson County, Texas. Ferdinand Billimek and John Woellert were approximately the same age and played together as children when their parents, Josef Woellert and Andreas Billimek, came to High Hill. Both families came from Neudek, Moravia, Austria. Another factor adding to the close relationship of these two was that Ferdinand's older brother, Joseph, married John Woellert's sister, Ludmilla. In the fall of 1900, John and Rudolph Woellert and Ferdinand Billimek began looking for land in other parts of Texas. They traveled to Fisher and Scurry Counties, but dislike the areas because of the colder climate. They heard that a banker in Gonzales, named R S Dilworth, owned a great deal of land in Wilson County. Immediately the trio visited the area and found it to be in the heart of the finest farming land in Texas. The land was available in fairly large tracts and reasonably priced. Rudolph now 22 years old, contacted Mr. Dilworth and purchased 500 acres of land at $5.00 per acre. The land was in a farming community known as Sunnyside, located five miles north of the present town of Poth. In October of 1900, John and Theresia Woellert, Rudolph and Mary Woellert, and Ferdinand and Aloisia Billimek with sons Eddie, Charles, Henry, Louis, and daughter Pauline, left High Hill for their new home in Wilson County. John, Rudolph, and Ferdinand came to Wilson County on horseback and buggy, bring their few cattle and household belongings. The women and children traveled by train. As soon as they arrived, they purchased an old two-room Lutheran Church building for $150.00, where all three families lived for three months while they were building their new homes.
