Frank Anton Popp, the son of Ferdinand and Mary Schneider Popp, was born on December 24, 1889 in Schulenburg, Texas. In 1895 his family moved to Nada, Texas. Around 1906, Frank and his grandmother, Juditha Popp, moved into a home (owned by her son, Ferdinand) about 1 mile north of his parent's homestead. They looked after each other for the next 9 or 10 years. Ferdinand gave his son, Frank, an organ with which to entertain Grandma, Juditha. She loved to sing and dance, and so did her grandson, so they spent many hours entertaining each other. Frank married Anne Heine on January 18, 1916. Juditha moved back with her son, Ferdinand; Frank and Anne lived in his home until 1927, at which time they moved with their 5 children to a home about 3/4 mile west of Garwood. There they continued to farm, and 3 more children were born. On July 7, 1937, tragedy struck when Anne died suddenly, leaving Frank with eight children, the youngest only 16 months old. But with the help of God and his older children, he raised his family and kept his farm going too. Even when Uncle Sam called for service men, his 3 sons all answered his call. He lived for his children and God called him home on May 2, 1975, at the age of 86.

Rudolph Henry Popp, the son of Ferdinand and Mary Schneider Popp, was born on February 17, 1899 in Nada, Texas. One April 28, 1925 her married Mary Theresa Mendel, the daughter of Joseph and Theresa Stanzel Mendel from High Hill, Texas. They started their early married years in a three room house on a farm next to Rudolph's parents in Nada. Their six children were born and raised there. Many people know the Rudolph Popp family for those special gatherings and parties at which all had a good time. For everyone's enjoyment the music consisted of listening to brooms scraping on the floors and banging on washtubs for rhythm. Rudolph and Mary farmed cotton and corn, and raised chickens, pigs, and cattle. They also made sausage and grew their own hay. They were always adventurous and willing to do different things. One year they farmed five acres of onions. Oh, what an aroma! That didn't o over too well. This was an early 1930 experiment. In 1940, they purchased the first F20 tractor, which was very noisy. The chickens scattered everywhere and the cattle and horses raced as if the mean machine had invaded the farm. The animals jumped fences for several days; then they realized it was only a new addition to the farm. That same year, Rudolph rented his land to Mr. Lee Glass from Garwood to farm rice. After the first crop was harvested, Mr. Glass told Rudolph that he was going to plow it up, but Mr. Popp told him not to. He wanted to see if there was such a thing as a second crop. So, with lots of rain, there was a second crop, which Mr. Popp harvested. With the money he purchased one of the last 1942 Plymouths; there were no more of these cars made for several years thereafter. Rudolph and Mary were also active in supporting the St. Mary's Church and school. Mary died on March 19, 1960 and Rudolph died on September 12, 1971. Both are buried in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Nada.
